Privacy policy
Versus stores only what it needs to run your cricket identity.
We use your account details, cricket profile data, session activity, uploaded photos, and social posts to power scoring, leaderboards, player cards, the feed, and shared links. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS.
Account data
When you create an account we collect your display name and email address, which are required to identify and secure your account. You can optionally add a phone number, date of birth, gender, bio, country, and a profile photo, along with cricket profile details such as your jersey number, player role, and home group. We use this to display your cricket identity to you and the people you play with.
Photos and AI card generation
If you upload a profile photo, it is stored so it can appear on your profile and player card. Uploaded photos and generated cards are stored in public storage buckets, which means the image files are reachable by their direct URL. When you generate an AI player card, your photo is sent to our image-generation provider, Replicate (which runs the FLUX model), to produce the card image. The generated card may be stored with your account so you can view and share it later. Card images are AI-generated.
Gameplay, stats, and social data
We store the matches, sessions, scoring events, ratings, and statistics generated as you use the app. This powers your career stats, leaderboards, head-to-head records, honours, and shareable summaries. If you post to the social feed, we store your posts, reactions, and any media you attach. You can hide yourself from public leaderboards from your profile settings.
Contacts
Versus includes an optional "find friends" feature. If — and only if — you choose to use it and grant permission, the app reads phone numbers from your device contacts and sends them to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection so we can match them against existing Versus users and help you connect. On the server the numbers are hashed for matching. This feature is opt-in: we never access or upload your contacts unless you explicitly enable it, and you can decline without losing any other functionality.
Third parties we share data with
We use a small set of trusted service providers to run Versus. We share only the data needed for each provider to perform its function, and we do not sell your data to anyone.
- Supabase — authentication, our Postgres database, and file storage (your account, profile, gameplay data, and uploaded photos are stored here).
- Vercel — hosting and delivery of the app and website.
- Replicate — AI image generation (your uploaded photo is sent here to generate your player card, via the FLUX model).
- Resend — sending transactional and support emails (for example, when you contact support or request account deletion).
- Expo — mobile push notifications and over-the-air app updates.
- Google — Sign-in with Google, if you choose to sign in that way.
Security and logging
All traffic is encrypted in transit with HTTPS/TLS. We keep minimal server and security logs needed to operate the service and to detect and prevent fraud and abuse. We do not embed third-party advertising or tracking SDKs to profile you.
Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see below), we remove your personal data promptly. A minimal amount of information — such as basic security and abuse-prevention logs — may be retained for a short period, typically up to 30 days, to protect against fraud and abuse and to meet legal obligations, and is then purged. Shared match and scoring records that other players also took part in may be retained in anonymised form so their history stays intact.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account inside the app. If you have uninstalled the app, you can request deletion from our Delete your account page. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, player card, gameplay history and stats, feed posts, uploaded photos, and sign-in credentials, subject to the limited retention described above.
Children and minors
Versus is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation — see our Child Safety Standards for how we prevent, report, and act on such content.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app evolves; continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy. You can request account help or data removal through Support. See our Terms of Service for the rules of using Versus.
